A sustainable forest management system is implemented in state forest areas managed by Perhutani in Muara Gembong, Bekasi, West Java.
The government, through the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), has introduced a program called Perhutanan Sosial di Wilayah Kerja Perum Perhutani*, as stated in Ministerial Regulation No. P.39/MENLH/SETJEN/KUM.1/06/2017, dated June 6, 2017.
Bank Mandiri has been appointed to support the Social Forestry Community Empowerment Program in Muara Gembong, managing a total of 17.2 hectares of land in stages. In the first stage, 10 hectares of land will be developed, with the remaining 7.2 hectares to follow in the next stage.
The Perhutanan Sosial Program, inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Joko Widodo, has successfully increased shrimp farming productivity, contributing to economic growth and the welfare of shrimp farmers in Muara Gembong. This success is evident from the first harvest, which reached 2 tons per hectare—40 times higher than before the Social Forestry Program was implemented.
